Promising Career In Ultrasound Technician

In case there are abnormalities inside our body, health professionals send us to the laboratory to carry out confirmatory checkups. Patients need to go through ultrasound examination of the specific organ. Ultrasound technicians are the ones capable of doing the clinical tests. In ultrasound, our body organs and tissues are subject to sonic wave imaging. The equipment used in capturing images is referred to as sonographer. The doctor instructs the technician on what particular angles has to be worked on. This job compared to other jobs especially those which are exposed to radiation is a lot safer both for the patient and the ultrasound technician.

As mentioned, only a bona fide ultrasound technician can do this type of lab examinations. It is not as simple as you believe. Even when the main function is to just assist in sonic imaging to the patients, this job needs right schooling and training before one can be accredited.

Nurses, medical technologists, not even doctors can execute a procedure except when they’re certified.

Education is not an issue. Most of medical institutions now offer this program. Aside from the classroom lectures, on the job program can also be practiced through internship programs. This is to make certain that you’ll be prepared for the position after being qualified. Some students improve their medical career by moving to this training course after taking general radiology because the two medical courses are somewhat similar. Certification is not going to come only once. There should be a continuing skill upgrade in order for an ultrasound technician to hold his job.

As to the income, the range is from $ 50K to $ 70K annually. Earnings could very well depend on where you are working at. You have private hospitals with good paying job due to the difficulty of the cases or considering that the patients being served are high profiled individuals. In addition to the salary, various compensation sources such as benefits are given to them. Some of these are medical and housing benefits. If you are getting this job, you will have two options. The first is to apply right to a hospital and another is to have an employment agency to help you. Usually, having a consultant will ease your effort to look for a job because they’ll be the one to find your employer. These consultants also provides overseas jobs offering larger pay. In having a placement agency though, you should be aware the costs.

Regarding job requirement, consider this; no healthcare facility can survive with no ultrasound procedure and all ultrasound products has to be operated by an ultrasound technician. So you won’t have to worry of not having employment after certification. However, competition among job hunters might pressure you. To ensure that you have right job at desired location, stay bankable by constantly upgrading your skills and certifications. If you are able, attend seminars, workshops etc.. You can also find free seminars offered by medical associations. Try contacting major agencies and distribute your profile to them so you will have an access to ultrasound technician job opportunities locally and globally.

in my country, university specialisation that deals with Bio Technology is usually under a chemistry faculty, so expect to do alot of chemistry there.
as the main jobs the faculty advertises as proper jobs range from food factories, to water distribution, and to even hi tech virus research. The raneg is quite wide. You can be the one to design the next chemical composition of a brand new Chocolate, or you could make test of it pig in an slotterhouse was healthy, or you can check the composition of a water in a new fountain see if its drinkable, or you can find cure for AIDS. it is a truly new & future specialisation, congrats you are considering it.
