Get a Job: Best Part-Time Jobs for Students at a Grocery Store
Article by Adnan Masood
Are you a high school student who is looking to secure a part-time job after school or on weekends? If so, youll find a number of job opportunities by keeping your eyes and ears open, as well as a by performing a search on a job search site. With that said, you might wonder what some of the best part-time jobs are for students. One of those jobs involves working in a supermarket or grocery store. What types of positions are available for students like you?
Stocker: The main job of a stocker is to place merchandise on the shelf. Large grocery stores tend to have stockers work in one department only. For example, you could be assigned to the frozen food section; meaning you only stock the freezers and not the traditional store shelves. While the main job of a stocker is to stock the shelves with merchandise, it is common for a wide range of other tasks to be performed as well. For example, stockers are commonly required to cleanup spills in their isle, assist customers who approach them in the store, and so forth.
Cart Collector: As with working as a part-time stocker at a grocery store, you will typically find that cart collectors also perform a number of different tasks. While your main job may be to fetch shopping carts from the parking lot, it is also common to have employees empty the bottle and can return bins, assist elderly or disable customers with transporting their purchases to their car, treat icy sidewalks with salt in the winter, and so forth.
Cashier: Working as a cashier in a supermarket is one position that pretty much stays the same daily. As a cashier, it is your job to man the cash register. You scan, bag, total, and collect payment for a customers order. In addition to doing this, you are responsible for providing consumers with top of the line customer service. This involves interacting with them with the use of friendly conversation.
Please note that there are a wide range of other positions found in a grocery store or supermarket. However, the part-time jobs mentioned above are ideal for students. There are a number of companies who have tight age restrictions that prevent students under the age of 18 from performing some tasks (deli due to the meat slicer and so forth).
If your local grocery stores are like most throughout the country, youll likely find that your stores are always hiring. Whether it be for a cashier or stocker, it seems as if you can always come across a job listing or a now hiring sign at a supermarket. These establishments are ideal part-time jobs for students because consumers tend to frequent grocery stores after work or on the weekend, when most high school students are available to work.

The recession hit home, I just had my hours cut from 40 to 24, so I’m thinking about getting a part time job. Since I don’t have any mode of transportation, the best thing for me would be something on the weekends when my roomie can drive me, but I don’t even know where to start looking!
Any advice or ideas?

Best Part Time Weekend Jobs
Best Part Time Weekend Jobs
If you’re a young adult, especially during these tough economic times you understand the need to put some extra spare change into your pocket as you will need it for things such as new clothing, dating, school books or a trip you and your friends are planning on taking, but you don’t wanna work on school days or nights since you wanna have some time to rest and study. There many part time weekend jobs that you can perform with ease and still have the time to study enough to keep your school grades at a reasonably good level. In this article we will discuss a few of those jobs that almost anyone can perform.
One of the best part-time weekend jobs that you can start is a tutorial service, and the best part of this kind of service is that it is very easy to get clients. You can either approach kids in your own school that are a few grades lower than you or you can go to a junior high school or an elementary and ask around to see if any of the kids there are interested in being tutored on a particular subject that they are deficient in. Once you have tutored your first student and they see that they have started getting better grades in their schoolwork they will start passing the word around in their school about your service. This is called “word-of-mouth advertising” and it is the best converting advertisement out there. What is even better about starting a tutoring service is the amount of money that you can make doing this in a very short amount of time. Most tutorial services today are quoted as charging from between $ 30-$ 45 an hour. This is the kind of hourly pay that can make your eyes pop out and if you’re really good there will be no shortage of students that you can tutor because most parents are more than willing to pay this much to make sure that their kids can get better grades. Another great aspect of starting a tutoring service is that both you and your student will most likely have the weekend off and this makes scheduling a very easy matter.
Another great job that can make you a good amount of money and also help other people in need is working as a part-time fundraiser. If you have strong communication skills and have always been good at marketing and selling things that maybe you should consider this line of work. If you accept this part time weekend job then expect to put your verbal skills to the test as your job will be to raise funds for this cause by getting people to make donations to it. The most important aspect of this job and the one that will make you or break you is how trustworthy you are as a person and how well you can communicate the worthiness of your cause to the people that will be donating to it. If you are good fundraiser then you can expect to make between $ 25 and $ 40 an hour. Imagine a job where you can get paid well, make people feel better and help people in need. I cannot see any job that is more noble than this.
Another good part time weekend job that is for anyone that has good writing skills is to be a freelance copywriter. With freelance copywriting you don’t even need to leave your own home to get business leads as there are many online writing message boards that are always requesting the help of an expert copywriter. The best thing for you to do if you are looking for work in this field is to offer a few free articles to get some reviews. Once you get more than 3 to 5 reviews people will start spreading the word about your writing skills and you will be swamped with work. You can expect to make between $ 15 and $ 25 dollars an hour depending upon how much you put into it.

First of all, in order to discuss this topic thoroughly, we should be equipped with the correct definition of “flexible”. In my point of view, the real meaning of “flexible job” is the job which doesn’t disrupt your daily work, or as a college student, your class assignments, meanwhile could offer you some extra money in your pockets and helpful experiences in your resumes. As far as I am concerned, the flexible jobs do not necessarily call for certain skills, of course if you are a master in some sorts of fields, you choices will be more plentiful, and your leisure time will turn out to be more effective. For instance, if your major is computer engineering, you will be an ideal candidate for a popular job programmer.
Second, I want to address the necessity of finding a flexible job. No one can deny the fact that money is an everlasting lurk for human being, in order to be affordable to a long-dreamed cell phone or PC or increase your account deposits, you deadly need a flexible job. Besides the substantial need, your resume will be outstanding if decorated with a bunch of previous working experiences.
Third, to be practical, it is the high time to illustrate the feasibility of finding a flexible job and I am here trying to find an answer for where can we find the best source for flexible jobs. As college students, busy with homework and social relations, we are not allowed to send resumes everywhere or participate in various interviews. So, resources from the Internet appear to be an optimal channel. As long as you can get access to the Internet you can find tons of information about flexible jobs are waiting for you. The convenient Internet and professional job-finding websites can make your flexible jobs possible. Here, I have to draw your attentions to one intractable problem. Do not be trapped in some fake website which aimed at cheating you, they usually ask you to hand in sum of membership fee and then disappear or put you into valueless jobs. Which can lower your chance of being cheated is to do research as much as you can, then compare different kinds of websites or programmers, weighing their pros and cons, at last make you own choices. I have to admit that it is not an easy task to ascertain the true on from millions of websites, but you have to. Taking myself as an example, I would like to choose the website which enjoys many recommendations and the founder is warmhearted who is sincerely devoted into helping people to improve their lives instead of impersonal business man.
In the end, I want to add something or tips about how to pick up the fittest job for you. We can divide the jobs into two categories: no skilled needed and skilled needed. If you are more interested in the skilled jobs, you can easily find more details of this job from the website. Different jobs call for different requests; you must be clear about what you are seeking for.
It is too numerous to list the advantages of finding a flexible job. The most significant key point is looking for the best source for flexible jobs that is your first step!
